Due to circumstances beyond our control, the venue for the 1500 Meter Race Walk Sunday, December 15 has been changed.

The new location is:
Brandon High School at Fussell Field
311 North Kings Avenue
Brandon, FL

The stadium is located on the corner of North Kings Avenue and Fussell’s Way. It is approximately 25 minutes from the I-75/Highway 56 exchange in Pasco County.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but for this event to be held this switch is necessary.

The start time is still the same: 9:00 a.m.

Florida Senior Games Qualifying Rules
OPEN – no qualification performance is necessary

Entry Requirements
1.  Note: Prior to registering for. the Race Walk, please be sure to be familiar with USATF Rules. This event will be judged strictly in accordance with USATF rules for Race Walk.

2.  Walking entry fee is $25 for the first event and $10 for each additional Walking event for Florida residents. Entry fee is $35 for the first event and $10 for each additional event for non-residents.

3.  All entries must be received by Friday, November 15, 2024. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Event Director.  Athletes registering after the November 15, 2024 deadline date may be subject to a $10 late fee. NO REFUNDS AFTER THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE.

Format
1.  Athletes may not enter both the race and power walking events. Athletes must choose either the power or race walk discipline.

2.  5000M Race Walk will be judged in accordance to USA Track & Field (USATF) rules. Timed final on the track with split times.

3.  1500 Meter Race Walk – Timed final on the track with split times at the 400M, 800M and 1200M marks.

4.  Fourth place ribbons will be awarded in addition to Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

Sports Rules
The 1500-meter and 5000-meter race walks will be conducted in accordance with USATF rules, except as modified herein. Race Walk athletes must use proper Race Walking techniques or risk disqualification. All walking athletes must not wear clothing that could impede the view of the athlete’s numbers for the judges. All walking race numbers must be worn on the front and back and must be visible at all times. Competitors must pass through the entire finish chute to qualify as an official finisher.

National Senior Games Qualifying Rules
2024 is a qualifying year for the 2025 National Senior Games, to be held July 24-August 4, in Des Moines, Iowa.

1. All first-, second-, third- and fourth-place winners or athletes meeting this sport’s NSGA minimum performance standards in competition at a 2024 NSGA qualifying games will qualify for the 2025 National Senior Games.
2. The minimum distance acceptable for qualifying will be 1500M.
3. The preferred 5K race walk at the State qualifier is on a road course but the State qualifier will have the option to use a track for the event. The National Senior Games 5K race walk event will be held on a road course.
4. If a track is used for the 5K, it is referred as a 5000M.
